UNDP Working Paper on Privatization and Public Services Sector

"Can Privatisation and Commercialisation of Public Services Help Achieve the MDGs? An Assessment*", by Kate Bayliss and Tim Kessler.

I just found this article (haven't read it yet) on how the the authors argue that public services should not be privatized as it will go against the Millennium Development Goals and will not provide affordable services to the poor. Let me know if anyone has read it and what they think.

Hello from another blogging Vancouverite.

It now seems very unlikely that any of the MDGs will be met, sad as that is. Of course, that doesn't mean that we should stop working to alleviate the terrible burdens of poverty and disease.

not at all, but i think it's best said: celebrate your achievenments but be realistic with the challenges.

Alleviation should not even be the goal; it really should be ERADICATION of poverty. I think I'm trying to say that it must be well thought out what are the aims and methods of meeting the MDGs and revise to be more realistic and acheiveable.
